Marketing A Law Firm On The Internet
If you are starting a law firm, no matter what the practice, then you have probably already realized how important the internet is to the survival of your business. If you didn’t know it, then I’m here to tell you, the internet is important to your practice. And not just for the expertise you can build there. The internet has become the new yellow pages. When someone needs something (or someone) they Google for it.
And that is what this post is about. Creating an environment on the internet where Google can find you, recognize what you are doing, determine you are important enough to let other people see your information, and start pushing people toward you. It’s kind of like the commercials you see on television now. If you aren’t on the internet, you might as well be invisible.
To begin, you need to have a good website. And by good, I mean optimized for success. For example, if you were a Seattle traffic attorney, you want to try to get traffic attorney into your web address. This helps Google know what your site is about. Your firm name is great, but nobody’s looking for that.
Second, your site needs to have good content on it, and you need to use your keywords effectively. Let’s go back to our speeding ticket attorney example. You don’t want to just start inserting your keywords in everywhere you can. You want to have them interspersed naturally throughout the content. On each page where you might want to put your firm name you could put traffic lawyer, or some variation thereon, there instead.
You also want to make sure you have keyword links from page to page within your site. Don’t just say “click here” and make it a link. Use a keyword to get people to navigate your site. Google loves it.
In the end, there is a lot to know about successfully marketing a law firm on the internet. The best way to learn is to dive in and get started. The worst way is to just throw money at it and hope it works. Good luck.
